Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Approach

Here at our training center, the practice of martial arts, primarily Jiu-Jitsu, has been in our family since 1917, when it was first introduced while living in Brazil. Throughout the years, as the family grew and as this art was passed down from generation to generation, the methodology developed by the family became one that consisted of the following:

  • self-defense

  • stand-up fighting

  • takedowns

  • ground fighting, also known as grappling

  • Jiu-Jitsu Philosophy

With these in place, our family has opened many schools and has passed down our teachings and art to countless people.

What Is The Purpose Of Jiu-Jitsu?

The purpose is to bring back the original values of the practice of Jiu-Jitsu. We want the families and people within our community and within Lafayette, CA, to know that it is more than just a sport or more than just about competing. It is about unity, building a family that supports, and developing a lifestyle. We want our students to see that BJJ is a lifelong practice.

Benefits Of Taking A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Class

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training goes far beyond physical fitness and self-defense instruction. Participating in a sport as diverse and unique as jiu-jitsu has numerous advantages. Some common and often unforeseen benefits of martial arts training include boosted self-esteem, improved mental well-being, and the opportunity to learn new skills.

Build Strength And Become More Physically Fit

Gaining strength in muscles that you would never work out in the gym by moving your body while lying on the ground and learning to grapple is excellent cardio. It helps to increase endurance and is fantastic for the legs, glutes, back, core, and back.

You'll also reach your fitness goals more quickly with Jiu-Jitsu, which is another advantage. Some people claim it hardly seems like exercise and is a fun way to get active and workout. BJJ is an excellent substitute that works both your body and mind if you want to get stronger and lose weight but find it difficult to commit to a treadmill or weights.

Improve Your Overall Mind State

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu students are more composed, laid-back, friendly, and content. Training can often be one of the most effective forms of therapy. You will feel refreshed and relaxed after your complete mind and body therapy session. You let out all of your anger, frustration, or depressed emotions on the mat, and you immediately feel more happy, relaxed, and relieved.

Build Self Discipline And Gain Self Confidence

BJJ is all about being prepared, quick thinking, and strategy. It also calls for a tremendous degree of patience and restraint. Jiu Jitsu classes help you develop these traits since you must consistently show up and try to reap the rewards. As you keep learning, momentum will develop, and you'll feel pride.

Speaking of pride, one of Jiu Jitsu's underrated advantages is how much self-assurance it provides you. You can feel more confident in every area of your life by overcoming difficulties and continually acknowledging and challenging your limitations. Additionally, you'll feel more confident and safer if you can protect yourself.

Reduce Your Stress And Sleep Better

BJJ is a fantastic way to unwind. When exercising, your body releases endorphins, which fill the body and brain with happiness and reduces stress. It can also help you put many of your stresses and problems on hold to be more present since the technique demands such intense concentration.

Regular exercise also helps you sleep better. You can expect to sleep longer and feel better than others who don't exercise. And the additional advantage of reducing your stress only helps to strengthen your gains in sleep quality. Jiu-Jitsu classes could be a great approach to help you get back on track if you'd like to adjust your sleep routine or are having trouble feeling rested and renewed.

Learn To Defend Yourself

You will learn to be more aware of your surroundings in jiu-jitsu training, preparing you to react to potential threats. If you are attacked, you don't have to defend yourself by hitting or kicking; instead, you can utilize your skills to coerce the attacker into submission. BJJ is so successful that police officers are frequently taught how to use it safely to diffuse difficult situations.
